Most such programs are strictly for minorities, but some will take promising inner city students of any race. Ask your guidance counselor, as he/she will know what groups have helped students from your school in the past. I know one big group that sends inner city students to top liberal arts schools is called Posse, but that's it. You could try a google search for "inner city college applicants". My girlfriend and I currently live in Manitou Springs, CO which is a beautifull and unique mountain town. The problem is all of the negitive growth and wealth that brought the generic condos and is destroying the integrity of the city. Anyone know of other historic artist friendly towns that seem to be less vulnarable to this type of change? We've been looking around colorado as well as Eureka Springs, AR and Port Townsend, WA although we do not plan on moving to th West Coast. Any Ideas would be helpfull.

It is amazing how far motorbike technology has come. From the first simple helmet design invented by Gottlieb Daimler in 1885 to aerodynamic, Bluetooth, flip front, stylised designs - we've moved a long way in 150 years.

Until 1973 there were no rules regarding wearing protective head gear on a motorcycle. Since this law first appeared, helmet designers have gone to the extremes in order to ensure their products offer maximum protection. And riders have come to expect their head gear to look as sleek as they are safe.

1. Scientific analysis has shown that if all riders wore the safest helmets available up to 50 lives could be saved each year. So since 2007 the British Safety Helmet and Ratings Programme (known as SHARP) has been working to help customers pick gear that has been tested to breaking point. How to get a steady stream of smoke for use in a wind tunnel?

I'm making a small wind tunnel (only a width and hight of 1ft) and I want to add some smoke to stream through so I can see whats happening to the air. Does anyone no any good way to make a nice bit of smoke cheaply with readily available(household) materials?

How do I fit a wall bracket for a boxing bag into an outside external wall?

I am looking to buy a small half size 2ft boxing bag for my home.

I don't want to set it up inside as we have a small house, however we have a big back yard that would be ideal for it.

The bag comes with an external wall bracket to fit to an vertical wall.

I live in a victorian terrace house, but wanted to know if it is safe to fit the bracket to the side of my house, and how I would do this? It looks like the walls are all standard brick.

The Hoover Tempo Widepath is a residential vacuum cleaner that is becoming more commonly used by commercial cleaners. The Tempo is a strong disposable vacuum cleaner that is well priced. Commercial cleaners are opting to go this route because the Hoover Tempo holds up to abuse and can be thrown after a few months and replaced at for under one hundred dollars. The Tempo is a paired down vacuum that comes standard with the basics and a little more. With onboard tool kit and long wand the Tempo can do the job of a one thousand dollar vacuum at a tenth of the price. For such a low price you would expect that the Hoover Tempo would be scaled down to a motor and a handle, but the overall design packs in every option that a well rounded vacuum cleaner should have.

The upper body of the vacuum cleaner is well designed. The cover on the bag tank pulls away easily, making bag replacement quick and easy. The Hoover takes a standard type Y Hoover vacuum bag that can be found at any hardware store. Bags are relatively inexpensive costing less than ten dollars for a 3 pack. The side of the bag tank holds two extensions wands for use in conjunction with the onboard tools. Unfortunately, like most other onboard tool sets the wand can easily come loose and fall if bumped or jostled. The rear of the vacuum cleaner bag tank holds the rest of the tool kit. The onboard tool attachments are comprised of a square brush tool, crevice tool and upholstery brush. The tools are secured in place by plastic brackets and seem to stay securely attached even when bumped. To use the attachments on the vacuum, the hose is pulled out close to the base giving the user about 3 feet of total hose length. With the use of the extension wand, the hose length is increased to about six feet from the back of the vacuum cleaner. The handle is made from hollow plastic which could be prone to cracking if bumped hard or dropped. The switch is awkwardly positioned on the top of the back tank and not on the handle. The cord length measures 24 feet which is 6 feet shorter than most standard vacuum cleaners in this class.

The base of the unit is made from all plastic which is common for most vacuum cleaners under $100. The lower assembly is prone to scratching on uneven surfaces or concrete. The roller brush looks sturdy and spins quietly utilizing a stiff nylon bristle that could damage longer carpeting over time. The stiff bristles however make this vacuum cleaner extremely competent on hard floor surfaces. Surprisingly the Hoover Tempo comes standard with a front headlight, uncommon for vacuum cleaners at this price. The vacuum Hoover Tempo houses a twelve amp motor with more than ample suction for heavy cleanup jobs. The noise level is not as loud as some Hoovers in this class but is noticeably louder than the more expensive residential and commercial vacuum cleaners.

Overall the Hoover Tempo Widepath is top of its game for an entry level vacuum cleaner. The Hover is inexpensive enough to be used as a disposable for most commercial companies and should hold up for a few years for residential use. The Hoover Tempo comes with many of the features that entry level commercial vacuums boast. The only down side to the unit was its lack of metal substituted by breakable plastic. If the user treats the vacuum with care it should hold up but drops or bumping could crack plastic parts.
