A central or built-in vacuum cleaner consists of a large power supply that is very often located in the cellar or the garage. Hose receptacles are mounted on one wall in each and every room. These receptacles, in turn, are attached to extremely long sections of tubing that wind through the walls and under the floor joist in order to be able to transport the vacuumed material straight into the large dirt container positioned somewhere in the basement. The primary hose used for the actual vacuuming process is upwards of twenty five feet long. Carpets, drapes, furniture, and even wall decorations can all be easily cleaned. There are no switches to contend with; all you have to do is plug the hose into the wall mounted receptacle. Vacuuming starts automatically.

Since the power unit is installed in the cellar, this type of cleaner is very quiet when running. Even so, this type of vacuum is so very powerful that it is capable of removing two or three times as much dirt, dust mites and pollen spores as the normal cleaner does. Therefore, you should have a cleaner, healthier place in which to live. When dealing with central vacuum cleaners the only thing you have to lift is the hose itself. There is no heavy appliance to push, pull or tug on. Cleaning the upstairs area is just as easy as cleaning the downstairs area. Never again will you have to carry an ordinary vacuum cleaner upstairs.

The installation cost for one of these systems can be a little expensive depending on the amount of remodeling that has to be done. The least expensive route would be to install this system during the initial construction of the home.

How can you hook up a Central Vacuum?

How can you hook up a Central Vacuum That is opposite of the pipe we have it in the garage and it comes out on the right and the Central Vac that we bought yesturday has isn't pipe coming out on the left side. Is there any type of Hose that can stretch that far or can you use PVC Pipes for Vacuums lined up that far apart?

You will use a hacksaw and cut off the pipe just below the elbow that directs to where the old central Vac was and you can go to the store you got the central Vac from and buy elbows and a piece of straight pipe if needed. Get pipe like the one that is there now. Get PVC pipe cleaner, glue and put to together like an erector set. When you cut the pipe use a razor or knife to clean off the burs on the pipe or it will trap dirt over time. Good Luck!
