If there is one thing I've learned toilet training boys (I have 3 of them), it's that it is very easy to screw it up. Don't make it harder than it needs to be - and make sure you don't mess it up by following these 5 tips:

1. Getting mad or showing other displeasure when accidents happen

When toilet training boys, and even girls, don't get upset when accidents happen. It's a fact they will happen, and your anger or displeasure will only make matters worse. Relax, take a deep breath and let them know that it's OK. Then help them change clothes and continue their potty training regimen.

2. Starting too early

Only start toilet training boys when they are ready. When is that? Well, it depends on the child, but generally when they show an interest and can follow basic directions. Starting too early will only frustrate you and your child and will end up taking longer than needed.

3. Not setting aside time

Be sure to set aside enough time for potty training. Don't view it as an inconvenience that has to be dealt with because it will end up taking longer than needed leading to frustration and stress. Set aside a week or so where you can focus on your child and the potty training.

4. Making it a stressful event

By all means, don't push your child too hard. Make it a fun experience and reward them for going on the potty. Above all, have fun with it - your child is only at this age one time, so enjoy the process.

5. Showing mixed signals

When toilet training boys, make sure to have a clear game plan on the front-end and stick to it. Make sure any caregivers also know the routine. You don't want to constantly change your routine or have a caregiver do it differently than you. This will only confuse the child and make potty training take longer.

With my first son, we did all of these things the wrong way and it ended up taking a little more than 3 months - it was disastrous. Can gynecomastia cause a clear sticky nipple discharge?

I know that gynecomastia is normal in teenage boys, but what about a clear and somewhat sticky kind of discharge that comes along with it if you squeeze the nipple? Please help me!

Whoever told you that gynecomastia is normal in teenage boys or otherwise is misinformed. You have too much estrogen in your system. A male discharging milk from his breasts or any other type of discharge from his nipples is NOT normal either. Go see your physician.
