So you are considering purchasing a central vacuum system. When doing this, customers look at the various differences between products - price (obviously), power output, availability, etc. Another aspect of selecting a C.V.S. that is becoming more important is the range of accessories being offered by each manufacturer. Good accessories with a central vac system make the product more interesting and will help with the ability of the system to perform different and often very specific tasks.
Below are listed some of the central vacuum accessory products that we found on offer during an internet search. We have made a brief comment on whether we were impressed with the availability, visibility, and ease of purchase of individual items with each manufacturer. Some manufacturers may be disappointed by what we say, but we approached this as ordinary people, simply trying to find central vacuum accessories and reporting on what we found.
Top of our list of manufacturers that seemed to have plenty of accessories to offer, and that they made these available in an accessible way were Beam, MD Manufacturing, Lindsay Manufacturing and Vacuflo . Their sites or sites that represented their products seemed to be packed with accessories that ranged from the expected to the exciting. Product names can be made to sound interesting such as Vacuflo's 'Puppy Powerhead' and MD's 'TurboCat Zoom Kit' and there were a huge range of products, with each manufacturer promoting items such as pet hair removal brushes, pet hair grooming brushes, lint brushes, attachment kits, hose socks, dusting brushes, upholstery brushes, mini-vacs for computer keyboards, crevice tools, blind cleaners, turbo power nozzles - the list goes on and on. With regard to the above manufacturers, we found the products easily and items appeared to be available individually, which we appreciated.
After that we found that companies such as Electrolux and Eureka did have a range of accessories for central vacuum systems, some of which were impressive. The reason that we were a bit disappointed is because they seemed to be more anxious that you buy their kits, which contained many products, rather than individual products that we may only want. Sure, some of the items listed in the kits were impressive including hoses, quick connect wands, storage brackets, various tools, nozzles, brushes and caddys, but if we want only say the wands, but not the hoses, or if we only want the storage brackets? Maybe these are available individually, but they certainly were not easy to find.
Finally, low down on our list are Braun / NuTone , which we were disappointed about, as their central vacuum products are excellent, but we found their accessories boring. Again, maybe we were looking in all of the wrong places, but remember, you nice people at Braun / NuTone - we are the potential customers and if we cannot find your central vacuum accessories easily, then we may look elsewhere.
So congratulations to those Manufacturers that have performed well in our very basic and unbiased survey. For those of you who feel that you should have performed better, please feel free to tell us about it. As Frasier Crane might say - 'We're listening'.
