It is frustrating to find odors coming from your shoes, especially the favorites. The good news is, there are numerous methods of preventing and removing odors from footwear.

You should begin at your feet. You can't have odor-free shoes without having clean feet. Clean your feet thoroughly before putting on shoes. Proper foot hygiene is essential to keep bacteria from growing inside your shoes. A foot powder works well to keep feet dry.

Baking soda should be used. One of the best ways to get rid of shoe odor is by using baking soda. Put some baking soda in your shoes and let it sit for a night. Before wearing your shoes the next day you can simply shake out the baking soda.

Disinfectant products can be used. There are a variety of different scented disinfectant sprays available. Disinfectants work because instead of fighting off the gross scent, they destroy the germs in footwear that produce stink. The steps you must take are to spray the inside of the shoes with disinfectant prior to wearing them and again after. You would be best off making this a daily habit, so that there won't be a lot of bacteria on the surface.

Clean your footwear. As it is needed make sure to wash your shoes promptly. Anything made of washable fabric like runners or sneakers is applicable to shoes that can be washed. Shoe bags are great for washing your shoes in a washing machine because they are made specifically for just that. Your shoes can be prevented from being damaged when you spin by these. Or, you can use a lot of detergent and scrub your shoes with your hands. You should be sure to brush and wash your shoes well.

Always have socks on your feet. You should always wear socks if you often wear sneaker, loafers or runners. It will assist in getting rid of moisture so that bacteria don't have a chance to build up. While purchasing socks, pick the ones made of cotton, enabling your feet to get air. Socks which do not breathe can make your foot odor worse.

You can use the peel from an orange. Another useful shoe freshener is orange peel. A sneaky trick that not too many people know is that by leaving orange peels overnight inside of your shoes you can get rid of smelly bacteria.

Foot powder can be used. Many foot powders available can take care of the odor. Frequent use of powder is best. You can put the powder on your feet and inside the shoes before going out. Foot powder can be applied inside to absorb any moisture built up during wearing of shoes.

Alternate which shoes you wear. You can get rid of shoes odor if you switch your shoes every other day. You should allow your shoes to air out for a day or so. This avoids building an odor and lets your shoes be clean.

Keeping your feet fresh and dry really helps to eliminate odors from shoes, most important too. f you wear socks daily, it is very important to make sure they are cleaned and dried in the proper manner. If you can reduce moisture then the odor won't show up.

What do I do if my fabric steamer left lines on my upholstery?

Help! I used a fabric steamer on my dining room chairs (the fabric part, of course) and it ended up leaving huge marks lining across the seat! How do I get rid of them, please? I would appreciate any and all suggestions!

Lines like dirt migrating to the surface? If so, I'd sponge the chairs with a peroxgen bleach like hydrogen peroxide, then blot with a clean, dry bathtowel (thoroughly!) and then cover the chair seat with another dry towel and allow to dry. With luck, the grime wicking up from the chair seat will wick into the towel instead of remaining on the surface.

The same thing happens if you get a carpet too wet while shampooing it... the yuck from within the padding migrates to the surface and leaves a brown haze.

FWIW, dining room chairs are typically a cinch to reupholster. And cheap to do, too.
