Because many people fear things that are unfamiliar and new, the new waves of home vacuum food storage products, like vacuum sealer bags, have been met with a certain amount of undue suspicion. The thinking often goes that if the big food companies use these methods, food vacuum storage can't possibly be cheap enough to be affordable for casual home use. Certainly, the machines used by large companies are indeed very expensive and powerful, but the differences between them and the home machines are mostly just a matter of scale. Industry vacuum sealers can seal more food away more quickly than home sealing machines and products. But that doesn't mean the casual products are useless! Rather, they're merely scaled down versions that utilize scientifically proven methods for food preservation on a level that families and bachelors can make practical use of. Still cautious? Maybe you won't be once you learn how these products work.

Whether you know it or not, you use similar packaging techniques almost every day of your life. If you've ever stored food away in any kind of container, you've used a limited form of the principles at work in vacuum storage. Ordinary containers and even plastic wrap seal out bad air to keep your food fresh. This, of course, only works for a limited period of time, and that's because the containers and wraps don't remove the air that's already inside during the sealing process.

It would therefore be accurate to say that home vacuum food preservation products such as vacuum sealing bags and the like are different simply because they do a more thorough job of getting rid of the bad air. Through a pump or a small home-sized vacuum sealing machine, the air present in the container is removed and then the container is sealed up efficiently without allowing any more air to get in. In the better products, this creates an FDA-approval level of sterility in the internal storage environment that allows food to be preserved in its initial packaging state for much longer. It has many times the effectiveness of an ordinary non-vacuum sealed container in a refrigerated environment, keeping the food just as you want it until it's time to enjoy.

Vacuum food preserving bags, cans and jars are also generally sturdier, tougher, and more precise than the non-vacuum counterparts used by most people. They do a better job of preventing freezer burn and other issues that result from flimsy packaging techniques. If you've never tried it before, you may be surprised at how large the difference is between vacuum storage and non-vacuum storage. Look at it this way: it's good enough for almost every major food production company to use it on an incredible scale, so why wouldn't it be good enough for your much smaller home? Anyone who's tried it knows that it works, so long as you buy a good quality product from a company with a trusted name in the industry.

The black Bakugan are all of the Darkus Attribute. Their planet is found on the dark side of the Bakugan Universe. This is where you will find the grandmasters of night fighting and destruction. The Darkus Bakugan have intensely trained in the art of battling in the dark shadows of night. They thrive on battles hidden in the shadows, for this is where they draw their strength.

Masquerade fittingly uses the Darkus attribute to put fear in the hearts of other battlers with his threatening Doom Card. Once a Bakugan is sucked into the Doom Dimension, there is no coming back.

These black attributed monsters have studied and trained intensely in the art of battling in the dark. It is in the shadows of the night and thrive. Their battles are shrouded in gloom for it is within these dark shadows that the Darkus Bakugan draw their strength.

Darkus Tactics

In order to use Darkus wisely, you need to surprise your opponents by taking away all their options. There is nothing extraordinary about the Darkus Bakugan's G-Power, but it is easy to take out your opponent by preventing them to utilize their Bakugan's strengths. Using your Darkus Ability Cards in particular can cripple even the best of your opponent's plans.

The Red Ability cards are the key strength for using this attributes. Keep in mind though that these cards have to be played at just the right time to get to most out of them. Masquerade's Throw is probably the best card to pick if you're not exactly sure what to do. This is particularly powerful against Haos and Ventus who rely on powerful ability cards to win.

The Bottom lime is, Darkus is evil but fun. It can be very frustrating for your opponent to loose to a Darkus force. Once again, let me stress that is takes a lot of practice and time to comprehend advanced tactics when it comes to using Darkus Bakugan.

Defeating Darkus Bakugan

In order to beat a Darkus Bakugan, their weak spot is straight forwards fighting attributes such as Sub-Terra or Pyrus. They do not rely too much on a single trick to win the game, so when used wisely, they can take these black Bakugan down.

We do not often think about how we came to use the tools that organize our everyday life. An excellent example of this is the clothes hanger. Hangers have such simple design and function, but who envisioned the idea and created the first clothes hanger?

There are of course several types of hangers that the population has come to use for several different purposes.

The most popular and possibly the prototype for every hanger design to come, is the wire hanger, but before the wire hanger, was the coat hook. In 1903, at the Timberlake Wire and Novelty Company in Jackson, Mississippi, the need for more coat hooks inspired a new invention. Albert J. Parkhouse, an employee, decided to solve the problem of too many coats and too few hooks. He took a piece of wire, shaping it into two ovals, and bent the ends to make the shape of a hook. The first standard hanger was brought into the world. An improved clothes hanger design was patented in 1932. This design by Schuyler Hulett used cardboard tubes mounted on the upper and lower parts of the wire to prevent wrinkles, and in 1935 the lower cardboard tube was added for hanging pants. This is still in use today as a cheap hanging device for clothes, often used for disposable purposes such as dry cleaners or shipping.

Of course the development of clothes hangers has continued to thrive over the last seventy years. Plastic coat hangers are now the most popular for household use. These hangers keep their form and provide a thicker bar for clothes to rest on. High end clothes hangers made from fine woods inhabit expensive retail stores displaying and selling suits, coats and the like. These still have the same basic design but with a top-notch appeal. Some historians speculate that Thomas Jefferson invented the wood clothes hanger for his residence at Monticello (home to many of his handy inventions). Formed hangers that take the shape of shoulders are also used for suits and coats. These are now made from plastic and many other materials.

The retail store explosion in the last 50 years has produced a grand stage for the coat hanger. Clothing display has become a rather large part of the retail industry, and thus, companies pay careful attention to the manufacturing of clothes hangers. Clothes hangers with clips have been developed to simply pinch the clothing at he hem rather than crease the clothes over any kind of bar. Loops and notches are formed or cut to provide clothing straps or loops a place to rest on today's hangers. So many crafty designs have been developed to suspend any article of clothing that is in need of vertical storage.

Clothes hangers are such a simple device but are so vital to everyday living. Our society has become accustomed to our clothes poised position for a wrinkle free wardrobe.

A leather skirt is an essential part of a wardrobe for some. However, price can be an issue. Thankfully, there is an easy method you can use to make your own. It's easier than you think.

The easiest method is starting with a pair of leather pants. These may be some that you no longer want or ones found in a thrift store. The important thing is the pants need to fit your body comfortably. This will save you time and work in making your skirt.

Decide how long you want your skirt to be. Measure from your waist to the desired point on your legs where you want the skirt to end. Add two inches to this measurement. Remember this number.

Turn the pants inside out and measure from the waist to the length you need. Use a piece of chalk to mark the length. A ruler can be used to make sure the line is straight.

Use heavy duty scissors to cut along the line you marked with the chalk. Use a seam ripper to remove the stitching that runs from the lower end of one leg across the other leg's end. Still using the seam ripper, remove the stitching at the front and back of the pants. You should be left with the waist intact and the bottom part of the fabric open.

Place fabric parts at the front together and secure. Do the same to the back. Straight pins can be used, but they are difficult with leather and you risk getting poked when trying on the skirt. Double-sided fabric tape works well.

Try on the skirt to ensure it fits properly. It may be necessary to reposition the seam you formed or cut away excess leather. Once you are happy with the skirt, turn the skirt back inside out. Use a sewing machine to sew up the seams you formed. This part can be done by hand, but leather is difficult to work with so a machine is preferable. Also, you want to be sure that the thread used matches the fabric.

Create a new hem by turning up the bottom edge of the skirt. Secure with straight pins or double-sided tape and sew. Trim any loose threads before turning skirt right side out.

If desired, a fringe can be added to the bottom of the skirt. There are two ways of doing this. One, you can cut individual strips that are equal in length and width and sew them on individually. While this will allow you to better control the thickness of the fringe, it can be time-consuming.

The second method is to cut a long rectangle of fabric, enough to go completely around the lower edge of the skirt. Using scissors, make equidistant cuts in the fabric, taking care to stop within an inch of the edge of the fabric. This strips can then be sewn onto the hem of the skirt.

Probably not threaded right or tension is too tight. There is a small screw on the cover of the bobbin which you can turn to increase/decrease tension. Also make sure the thread is threaded through the slot on the cover.

Are you interested in making your home more energy-efficient? How about saving some money in the long run? Well, here are a few items that you should consider replacing in your home, especially if you've had them in place over 10 years.

Bathroom Sink Faucet - Did you know that a dripping bathroom sink faucet can waste as much as 3,000 gallons per year? If the faucet was purchased and installed before 1994, it can flow at a rate of 3 to 7 gallons per minute. Current federal law requires that all new faucets have a flow rate no more than 2.2 gallons per minute.
Toilet - Older toilets can use as much as 7 gallons per flush. Redesigned toilets can use 1.6 gallons or less per flush.
Showerhead - Newer showerheads are designed to produce large water droplets at a high velocity providing the sensation of high water flow. Some of the newer showerheads also allow you to adjust the flow from the current 2.5 gallons per minute to less than 2 gallons per minute.
Refrigerator - Newer refrigerators have high-efficiency compressors, thicker insulation and more precise temperature controls. When replacing a refrigerator, be sure and look for an Energy Star label which means it meets strict energy-efficient standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Cooktop - Cooktops are one of the least energy-efficient appliances in the home. Gas burners with standing pilots can use more than double the energy in one year than gas burners with electric ignition.
Dishwasher - Today's dishwashers are much more energy efficient than older models as they usually conserve time, water as well as energy.
Washer and Dryer - There are dramatic savings to be realized with new washers and dryers with the Energy Star rating. You can expect to save up to $550 over the appliance's lifetime. Front loading washers use the least water and electricity. New dryers have moisture senors in them which shut off the machine when the clothes are dry.
Windows - Newer, more efficiently sealed windows can help you cut your energy bill by as much as 15 percent. You have the choice of double or triple pane windows which reduce heat flow and prevent condensation.
Water Heater - New tankless water heaters can save you up to $500 in operating costs. Or, you can opt for a solar heating system will save you anywhere from 50 to 80 percent in energy costs.
Heating and Air Conditioning - If you've had your heating and air conditioning system more than 12 to 15 years, then it's probably time to start thinking about a replacement system. Energy Star certified systems can probably save you anywhere from 20 to 30 percent on heating and cooling costs.

Keeping a furnace filter clean during winter months is challenging. Some models have a removable type, while others have a disposable one. For maximum furnace efficiency, the filter should be changed or cleaned regularly. The owner's manual will have a specific guideline on how often this should be done and what type of filter it is. For those uncomfortable replacing or cleaning the filter, have a furnace repair technician do it as needed.

Replaceable

For people with allergies, the type of filter used is critical. High Energy Particulate Air (HEPA) filters contain multiple layers for maximum defense against dust and dirt. HEPA types are designed to purify air by reducing the number of particles that pass through the field. There is a rating system called the Minimum Efficiency Reporting Values (MERV) for the amount of filtering. The higher the number, the more stringent the filter.

These come in a variety of models. Replaceable HEPA filters come in scented form to improve odors. For allergy sufferers, this may be more harmful than helpful. In homes where smoke or dampness permeates the area, scented ones can improve the smell. Some do not fit the older types of furnaces. In order to make them compatible, a separate device may need to be installed.

When HEPA filters are not an option, high efficiency types may be used instead. These are pleated and contain an electric charge to increase the number of particles attracted to the filter. There is usually a layer of fiberglass over the pleated cardboard or Tyvek interior to trap extra particles. As the filter becomes full, air flow is reduced. This reduces the efficiency of the furnace, making it harder to send out warm air. Changing this filter regularly has a large impact on air cleanliness and energy efficiency.

Pleated filters are the same as high efficiency ones without the electrical charge. Standard models are most commonly made of mesh from natural fibers or fiberglass. The density is not as intense as those of the allergy-specialized HEPAs.

Reusable

Some furnace filters are not disposable. Made from heavier materials, such as foam or natural fibers, these filters should be removed and cleaned every few months. They are not as stringent as HEPA filters. Their purpose is to be a basic gatekeeper for dust and dirt, not a high efficiency device. These may be more daunting to remove and clean. They often have a metal frame that screws in or attaches behind other parts. It is best to ask an HVAC professional to clean it or to learn how. The instructions can be found in the furnace owner's manual.

Most frames need to be removed from the appliance before taking out the filter. The filter is then hosed off or run beneath a stream of water into a sink until the water runs clear. The filter should be wrung out, then returned to its proper place.

After several years of use, these filters need to be replaced. Even with proper maintenance, they may not be completely clean of impurities. When they begin disintegrating, it is time to purchase and install a new one.
