Why doesn't the carpet part of my vacuum work?
I have a Kenmore Whispertone 5.1 vacuum. I used it about four days ago on the entire house. It had a working carpet function. When you use the carpet function it makes a very loud sound and vibrates the ground, as it is powerful. So, I started to vacuum the whole house again and the light came on for the carpet function but there was no sound or vibration. It couldn't even pick up a piece of string. Please tell me why the carpet function has suddenly stopped working (if you know)? Thank you.
Hey everyone, it started working on it's own. I have spare belts in case it happens again. I'll put this to a vote so you guys can decide who should get best answer!
it is absolutely a broken belt, when you turn the vacuum settings to carpet it is supposed to make the brush spin, the belt is what makes the brush spin also, as the nob that indicates carpet to bare turns it tightens the belt to spin, so if the belt is broke it wont tighten
