We all know that Electricity has been here since the early 1900's. When it started, there wasn't much demand for it, First of all, because most people didn't have it in their houses, secondly, the only use for it was for light bulbs. Then came heaters, stoves, and then followed by electric appliances and everything else that work with electricity. well, I guess you know the story. I don't need to tell you what works with electricity.
Today the demand is so strong for electricity, we have to find other ways how to produce it. Did you know that Canada is the number one producer of electricity in the world? United States have to buy energy from Canada, because the demand is to strong, in fact California is one of the states who buy's the most electricity from Canada. In the 70s, an hydro electric plan was build in the north of the province of Quebec to produce power, thinking that this power plan would be enough for the next generation to come. Because population is growing so fast in North America, Canada had to build 3 more power plan. The problem is not building power plan! The problem is, you need water, lots of water to make the turbines turn, and when you build power plan you have to flood the territory, raise the level of the water, that mean kill everything that lives around.
I ear everyday, on TV, newspapers,magazines, that we have to save the planet. Did you know there's areas in this world who don't have Power, they don't even know it exist, but on the other part of the world we as humans are wasting it. There is an alternative to this problem, and a good one. We have it on the top of our head everyday. It Is Called Solar Energy.

The key component of any active solar system is the solar collector, which absorbs the sun's radiant energy and transforms it into usable heat. Various types of collectors are used in solar energy conversion, depending on the application and temperature requirements:
Unglazed metal and plastic flat plate collectors are used for low temperature applications such as residential pool heating and ventilation air heating for commercial and industrial building . Glazed flat plate and vacuum tube collectors are used for mid-range temperature applications such as domestic hot water and space heating and cooling applications.
Concentrating collectors that focus the sunlight onto a much smaller area are used for higher temperature applications such as industrial process heat, absorption cooling, and large-scale solar thermal power applications to generate steam for electricity generation.

what breed is this dog?
about a month ago i was on my break at work,i work at the safeway supermarket in stockton,ca.im part of the night crew & we eat prepared foods that didnt get sold that day..ppl complain about smokers so i take my breaks behind the store where the dumpster is at,that day i got some roast beef with potatoes & green beans & i headed behind the store & i found a skinny black dog trying to eat out of the trash..this dog looked like it was starving so i gave him my plate of roast beef,this dog ate the food + the paper plate & he started licking my hand after that,i instantly became attached to this dog and i took him home..with a steady diet this dog gained some weight & filled out..he is a very active dog & likes to play...i named him shadow,but i want to know what breed he might be...here are a few pics of shadow hopefully someone can guess what breed he is http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq124/rogulo/pic101308_2.jpg http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq124/rogulo/pic101308_4.jpg
Kudos to you for helping Shadow. He does look like a pit bull or pit bull mix but a vet would be able to give you more info. The vet could also tell you about how old he is and check for any lingering issues from his agonizing life before you saved him!
