bought expensive laptop - is it now worthless?

hello all; so i saved up a very long time to buy an ultimate gaming pc, but i made a compulsive decision and bought a hp envy 15 instead. these are the specs:
15,6" (1920x1080)
Core i7 720qm
Radeon HD4830 1gb
4gb 1333mhz ddr3 ram
320 gb harddrive
it looked great and performed just amazingly. problem is, i was so obsessed over it being spotless i used a bloody brass polisher to clean the top - i rubbed hard and saw lots of black on the cloth so i rubbed even harder. i immediately stopped when i realised what was happening but the damage still looks disgusting. if i were to sell this now - how much could i get? [i bought it for 1800 dollars]
thanks for the answers guys but no i dont think sandpaper will work since it is the paint which i completely ruined on the computer and its not something like brushed steel/aluminum so sandpaper will just ruin it further. hmmmm a custom paintjob - now thats an idea

Instead of selling it, find a local person that does good custom artwork and have them custom the case for you. That or even get vinyl lid cover that would cover the damage. No sense taking the huge loss when you can keep your system AND have something that looks cool.
