It is one of a Japanese gardens characteristics to effortlessly give out a contemplative venue for its visitors. Traditionally, visitors have to first wash their hands and mouth before entering a Japanese garden and temple. The gesture of cleansing suggests that whoever may pass through the garden must first be pure and without worry. This simply implies just how much importance is given in building a Japanese garden to bring out such an effect to its guests.

However, as the ages went by, these Japanese gardens are transformed and revitalized for a much generalized purpose. This purpose is simply to bring peace and serenity to its visitors. From being venues of worships and ceremonies, more and more Japanese gardens nowadays have become venues for self contemplation and relaxation.

In addition to this, there have also been other types of Japanese gardens. A Japanese garden can be turned to a water garden for it to have the presence of water streaming in it. Traditional gardens have specific elements that play hand in hand in emitting a mystical effect to its surroundings. A certain element that has always been part of a Japanese garden even the early ages is water.

Traditional gardens require the presence of water. Such is the reason for the bamboo water hammers and water basins that are placed near a water source. These two work together in gathering the water into a specific location. As discussed above, visitors can use the water basin in order to wash their hands and mouth before entering the garden.

In addition to these elements, a garden can also be built with a man-made water stream. A water stream can be designed with curves that work well in giving life to flowing water. There is absolutely something magnificent in seeing water flow gracefully along a stream. In adding water streams to your water garden designs, you are definitely giving it a sense of both calmness and vitality. Usually, these streams come from a water source such as a water tank for indoor water gardens, or even an actual stream or pond for bigger and outdoor ones. The trick in having a wonderful water stream as part of your garden design is make it as simple yet meaningful as possible. Your water stream need not to be flashy or rough. Always remember that in order to achieve a contemplative garden, your water stream will have to be simple, soft and subtle.

Creativity is definitely needed for you to make different possible arrangements for your water stream. It can be accompanied by a water hammer and a water basin. Moreover, you can position stones around it to help control the water flow. Having water streams in your garden is definitely a great way in making it a composed and beautiful scenery to watch. Moreover, aside from watching, it is simply wonderful to listen to the gentle flow of water as it makes it way across your water garden.
